Research : UEFA Champions League CSKA Moskva a Fainomenon

The most well-trained team in Champions League.

For the first time in history, CSKA is of the 8 best teams in Europe. It is one of the outsiders of the tournament. Without having a particularly famous footballer in said team and with their strongest points being the low average age of their players (25 years old), ambition, tactics and excellent physical condition. Players who stand out are Dzagoev (19yrs old), Krasic (25yrs old), Schennikov (18yrs old). System used is 4-4-1-1 and their coach is Leonid Slutsky.


While watching all the games of CSKA from the group stage up until the Quarter Finals, one may see that the distance covered (km) in the field not only surpasses the opponent team's with which it is competing against, but all other teams' in Champions League, as well. CSKA has a very high field distance coverage average 119,462m (over 116km per game), while the corresponding average in other teams in Champions League is between 102-105km, with some reaching even 112km. The game which surpassed this record was with Manchester United in the Group Stage where CSKA's field coverage reached the distance of 130km - a number which had never occurred before in recent years in Champions League. Another point worth mentioning is that throughout this period, when CSKA was making such great progress, the league in Russia was towards its end and it was a period of without any particular game obligations -a transition period.
At this time, the Russian Championship has once again commenced and is in the 3rd phase. In the Quarter Finals, CSKA will face the team of Jose Mourinho and we are eagerly awaiting to see whether the militant CSKA has more to show us.
